The Jasper Economic Development Corporation teamed with the Texas Workforce Commission in a matching grant of $100,000 for the High Demand Job Training program at Jasper Independent School District. This is the second time in the past year that JEDCO has granted $50,000 to go along with a match from TWC for this use. This money will be used to purchase new welding equipment for the Careers and Technology Dept. at JISD.
Aaron Demerson, TWC’s Commissioner Representing Employers, along with other local dignitaries and school officials, was in Jasper last Thursday at a check- signing ceremony. At this same ceremony, TWC also presented a check for $189,000 for school’s Dual Credit Program Skills Development Fund. That money will go towards funding a Digital Forensics/Cyber Security training program.
JEDCO is committed to ensuring that our area will continue to have a ready and able workforce necessary for local businesses to thrive.
